A traineeship combines paid employment with structured training. You are employed under a formal training contract, follow an agreed training plan, and complete a nationally recognised qualification with NSTI while you work.
In Queensland, traineeships are supported through the Queensland Government’s Career Start Program, delivered by approved Skills Assure Suppliers. As an approved supplier, NSTI can deliver funded traineeships across the state.
Traineeships typically run for one to two years depending on the qualification and your progress. Recognition of Prior Learning and credit transfer can shorten that if you already have relevant skills.
These qualifications can be completed as a Queensland traineeship. Download the brochure for each.
Traineeships in Queensland are supported under the Career Start Program. Training costs are subsidised by the Queensland Government, with the student contribution depending on whether concessional or non-concessional rates apply.
Students can access a maximum of two subsidised training places through Career Start. You may complete one general Certificate III qualification and one apprenticeship or traineeship, or two apprenticeships or traineeships including school based options.
Employers can take on a trainee at any time. You work with an Apprentice Connect Australia Provider to register the training contract, and with us to agree the training plan and delivery arrangements.
Tell us where you are up to and we will come back to you with an honest answer, including whether you are likely to qualify for Queensland funding.
